After Newport, I hope this will be something completely different. Three days of road racing in the late summer sun.
Well, partly cloudy tomorrow, mostly cloudy on Sunday and showery on Monday according to the Weather Channel. I'm glad I've got the SB-800 now - although I didn't expect to be using it outdoors in daylight in August!
To be honest, though, I could have done with it on Monday at Palmer Park - very overcast and dalk half way through the Reading Track League - and on Tuesday at Hillingdon. I've never really tried flash before twilight before, but I was quite pleased with the results. They have a very characteristic flash quality to them and I'd still prefer to be shooting in the evening sun, but actually some of them are among my favourites of the year so far.
Back to the Youth Tour. It should be interesting because there are 4 or 5 very different events spread over the three days. Saturday starts with a 5k time trial for the Under 14s and Under 16s and is followed by a circuit race for everyone at Curborough circuit. Day two sees the Under 10s and Under 12s do a 1.5k time trial and then a second circuit stage for all ages, this time at RAF Cosford. The final day is a road race on closed roads around the village of Chesterton.
No Reading Track League this week - and Hillingdon is finished - so, day job willing, the photos should be up early next week.
